Think Big. Act Small.
Execute Precisely.

Compass Precision started with three Charlotte-area machine shops in 2019. Today the platform spans 11 facilities across the United States, all held to the same standard: disciplined execution, shared quality standards, and technical depth at every location.

Company History

How the Platform Was Built

Compass Precision was formed in October 2019 through the acquisition of three North Carolina precision manufacturing companies, Advanced Machining & Tooling, Quality Products & Machine, and Tri-Tec Industries, with the goal of building a platform that could keep the agility and expertise of individual facilities while sharing resources, capital investment, and operational support. Seven facilities joined between 2020 and 2025 across North Carolina, Minnesota, Florida, Oregon, Massachusetts, and Michigan, adding 5-axis machining, mill/turn manufacturing, Swiss machining, and lights-out production, with Accu-Tool joining the platform most recently in 2026.

Since then, growth has followed a disciplined acquisition strategy built around complementary capabilities, geographic reach, and technical expertise. Today, Compass Precision operates a nationwide platform of specialized manufacturers serving aerospace and defense, space, semiconductor, medical, power generation, telecommunications, and industrial programs, giving customers a broader range of manufacturing solutions through a single partner. Growth remains an active part of the strategy, and the platform continues evaluating opportunities that strengthen the capabilities and resources available to every program it serves.

How We Operate

Shared Systems. Independent Expertise.

Each facility in the Compass Precision platform maintains its own leadership, equipment, certifications, and customer relationships. Programs are matched to the facility best positioned to run them based on capability, certification, capacity, and application fit. When a program requires capabilities across multiple locations, work stays within the platform rather than moving to another vendor. As Bill Canning, Compass Precision’s President and CEO, puts it, the platform mixes and matches locations to best serve customer needs.
