Precision CNC milling with pallet-based automation and lights-out production for small-to-medium lot runs
Facilities
Strom Manufacturing
Strom Manufacturing is a precision CNC machining facility based in North Plains, Oregon. Founded in 1974, the company specializes in custom metal components for aerospace, high-tech, outdoor recreation, and specialty industrial customers. Strom joined the Compass Precision platform in July 2022.
Strom focuses on small-to-medium lot production, with parts typically under 36 inches in length. Its horizontal and vertical machining centers are configured to keep work moving across extended production windows, including unattended evening and weekend runs, giving recurring programs better
spindle utilization, fewer interruptions between cycles, and more predictable lead times. Strom also handles many secondary operations in-house, including graining, vibratory deburring, PEM hardware installation, riveting, assembly, plating, anodizing, powder coating, and silkscreening, giving customers a cleaner path from machined part to finished component.
As part of the Compass Precision platform, Strom Manufacturing gives customers West Coast machining capacity backed by the broader capacity, shared systems, and coordinated support of a multi-site manufacturing platform.

Capabilities
Where They Excel
Built for Lights-Out Production
Strom’s pallet-equipped machining systems let production continue beyond standard staffed hours. For repeat programs, that means more spindle time, fewer interruptions between cycles, and stronger control over lead times than a shop running single shifts alone.
Core Capabilities
Shared Platform Capabilities
Horizontal and Vertical CNC Milling
Pallet-based automation supports repeat production with reduced setup time and extended unattended operation across both horizontal and vertical machining centers.
Lights-Out Manufacturing
Evening and weekend runs keep throughput and lead times predictable on recurring programs without adding a second or third shift.
Component Finishing and Assembly
Graining, vibratory deburring, PEM hardware installation, riveting, plating, anodizing, powder coating, and silkscreening give customers a finished part rather than a machined blank.
Dimensional Inspection and Documentation
Consistency throughout the run is backed by dimensional inspection and documentation matched to customer requirements.
Material Experience
Aluminum, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, nickel-based super alloys, high-temperature alloys, brass, and engineered polymers.
