Simultaneous 5-axis machining and lights-out pallet automation for titanium and high-temperature alloy components in flight and space programs
Facilities
Gray Manufacturing Technologies
Gray Manufacturing Technologies was founded in 2013 with a specific purpose: machine the most demanding metal components for flight and space programs. The company built its facility, equipment, and team from the ground up around titanium and high-temperature alloy parts for components that operate in a rocket engine, a launch vehicle, a satellite, a fighter jet, or a commercial airliner. Evan Grose serves as Vice President and General Manager.
Gray runs more simultaneous 5-axis machines with lights-out pallet automation than any other facility in the Compass Precision platform. Multiple pallets on each machine let two or more different orders run at once, so a customer’s program does not sit in queue while another order occupies the spindle, and the shop can produce one-off and low-quantity programs during the day while running long-cycle production unattended through the night.
As part of the Compass Precision platform, Gray Manufacturing Technologies gives customers the material and geometry expertise of a specialized aerospace machinist backed by the broader capacity, shared systems, and coordinated support of a multi-site manufacturing platform.

Capabilities
Where They Excel
Built for Titanium and High-Temperature Alloys
Gray was built from the ground up around the materials that give most shops trouble. Titanium, Inconel, and other high-temperature alloys behave differently under the cutting tool than aluminum or steel, and Gray’s programming, tooling, and machine strategy are built around that behavior rather than adapted to it after the fact.
Core Capabilities
Shared Platform Capabilities
Simultaneous 5-Axis CNC Milling
Flight-critical components with compound angles, intersecting bores, and tight positional tolerances across multiple features stay in a single setup, protecting the relationship between features that multi-setup machining cannot reliably hold.
Lights-Out Pallet Automation
Multiple pallets per machine keep production running unattended overnight on long-cycle programs, so a surge in one order does not delay another.
Titanium and High-Temperature Alloy Machining
Propulsion, structural, and thermal components in titanium, Inconel, and other high-temperature alloys depend on cutting strategy as much as equipment, and material behavior drives every programming decision.
Multi-Tasking Mill-Turn
Cylindrical components that need both turning and milling complete in a single sequence rather than moving between separate machines.
3D Inspection
Full GD&T verification and customer-specific documentation support intricate, close-tolerance parts with complex geometry throughout production.
Material Experience
Titanium, Inconel, and other high-temperature, high-strength alloys.
