Troy, MI (Metro Detroit)
Close-tolerance precision parts and production tooling for aerospace and defense, backed by nearly six decades of EDM heritage
Facilities
Trutron Corporation
Trutron Corporation was founded in 1967 and has spent nearly six decades producing close-tolerance precision parts and production tooling for aerospace and defense customers. The company is located in Troy, a northern suburb of Detroit, and joined the Compass Precision platform in November 2025.
Trutron started as an EDM shop, and that heritage still shapes how the team approaches complex-geometry tooling and precision parts today. Over the decades, the shop expanded into a full-service operation, adding 5-axis machining, turning and milling, and precision grinding alongside its original EDM capability.
As part of the Compass Precision platform, Trutron Corporation gives customers the EDM and tooling depth of a specialized Midwest facility backed by the broader capacity, shared systems, and coordinated support of a multi-site manufacturing platform.

Capabilities
Where They Excel
EDM Heritage, Full-Service Capability
Trutron’s EDM roots run deeper than most full-service shops. Decades of complex-geometry tooling work built a depth of EDM knowledge that the shop then built a full machining and grinding operation around, rather than the other way around.
Core Capabilities
Shared Platform Capabilities
3, 4, and 5-Axis CNC Machining
A full range of machining centers supports close-tolerance parts and production tooling programs.
CNC Turning
A full complement of turning machines rounds out the shop’s machining capability.
Precision Grinding
In-house grinding finishes hardened and wear-critical surfaces after machining closes, adding a capability most CNC shops route to an outside vendor.
Sinker EDM, Wire EDM, and CNC Hole Drilling EDM
The full complement of EDM processes traces back to the shop’s founding and remains a core strength today.
CAD/CAM Programming
Complex tooling and part geometries move from design to machine time without adding outside programming support.
Material Experience
All steel alloys, fully hardened steels, high-nickel alloys, titanium, aluminum, ultra-hard ceramic composites, non-ferrous alloys, and polymers.
